The URL for the scam under investigation is Rwxoftsa.com, which was involved in a fraudulent scheme posing as a remote job opportunity linked to Costco Wholesale under the name “Glassdor.” This scam has resulted in significant financial loss, with the victim sending approximately $9,500 in Ethereum over a span of four days. Domain Analysis

The domain rwxoftsa.com is highly indicative of a scam operation. Registered on July 25, 2024, through Gname.com Pte. Ltd., this domain is remarkably new and has a short lifespan, set to expire on July 25, 2025. The fact that it was updated on the same day it was registered suggests a lack of legitimate business intentions, typical of scam sites that are quickly set up and taken down.

The domain is hosted by Cloudflare, Inc., an organization known for its widespread use, including by malicious actors who seek to obfuscate their actual location and identity. The IP address associated with this domain points to San Francisco, United States, although the registrant’s contact details indicate an area in W. Persekutuan, Malaysia (MY). This discrepancy between the IP location and the registrant’s stated location raises further red flags, as scammers often use false or misleading information to avoid detection.

Regarding online presence, rwxoftsa.com shows no significant organic search traffic, no credibility backlinks, and an overall lack of authority or visibility online. The domain has only one backlink from a low-quality source, which indicates that the site is not engaged in legitimate marketing or SEO practices. Using a nofollow link from a questionable source suggests that the operators are not interested in building a trustworthy or long-term online presence but rather in executing quick, deceptive schemes.

Overall, the domain analysis of rwxoftsa.com reveals multiple indicators consistent with fraudulent activity, underscoring the need for extreme caution when encountering this website.

Rwxoftsa.com Review

The website rwxoftsa.com presents itself as a legitimate platform, using the Costco Wholesale branding to lure users into signing up for what appears to be a membership program. However, several aspects of this website raise serious red flags indicative of a scam.

Firstly, the website prominently displays Costco’s logo, attempting to instill a sense of trust and authenticity. However, the overall design is poorly executed, with elements such as a low-quality interface and text in a different language, which deviates from the expected professionalism of a legitimate corporate website. Moreover, the website is not indexed on Google, indicating a deliberate attempt to remain hidden from public search engines—a common trait among scam sites.

Regarding contact information, the site provides a WhatsApp number, +1 213-708-8778, but no physical address or direct email is readily available, which is highly unusual for a legitimate business. The lack of comprehensive contact details is a significant red flag, as genuine companies typically offer multiple means of communication, including email, phone, and physical addresses.

Additionally, the domain’s WHOIS information reveals that it was only recently registered, further casting doubt on its legitimacy. Including a customer service operation time alongside a generic stock image is another example of the website’s lack of authenticity and attention to detail. The fact that this operation time is presented without clear timezone information or legitimate credentials only adds to the website’s suspicious nature.

In conclusion, rwxoftsa.com exhibits numerous characteristics that are consistent with fraudulent schemes. We strongly advise against engaging with this platform.

    Rwxoftsa.com Reviews

The website rwxoftsa.com has several reviews indicating it may be part of a sophisticated scam operation.

A critical review from a user named Nicole Smith, shared on ScamAdviser, highlights multiple red flags that should be taken seriously by anyone considering engaging with this site.

Nicole mentions receiving an unsolicited text message, the first sign of something suspicious. She notes that the recruitment process was unusual. There was no need for a cover letter or resume, and she was told she was working for Costco without any standard verification process. The tasks she was assigned involved cryptocurrency transactions, and she was required to download Metamask, a digital wallet for Ethereum, which is highly irregular for any legitimate job.

Nicole’s experience further deteriorated when she encountered what the site described as “negative balances,” which required her to deposit more money to continue working. This tactic is a common scam strategy known as “advance-fee fraud,” where victims are lured into making additional payments with the promise of greater returns. When she couldn’t complete a task due to lack of funds, the site’s customer service pressured her to borrow money from friends and family, a clear scam indicator.

Despite some users in her group appearing supportive and sharing positive experiences, Nicole’s account of her interactions with the site reveals a pattern of deceit and manipulation. The mention of daily tasks that require constant deposits to avoid “losing data” is particularly alarming.

In summary, the reviews surrounding rwxoftsa.com strongly suggest it is a scam. The site’s practices of unsolicited recruitment, cryptocurrency transactions, and continuous demands for deposits are clear red flags. We strongly advise against engaging with this platform.

    Complaints We Received

On September 23, 2024, we received the following complaint:

I was contacted by Miranda from Glassdoor, offering a remote job helping Costco make products visible on their website. A few days earlier, I had applied for a job at Costco online, so I thought this was the same job. Miranda, who contacted me via SMS from the email bquexhr8380@hotmail.com, told me that I should contact another number via text if I were interested. Then, a ‘coach’ named Evelyn contacted me through WhatsApp. Soon after I started, my account frequently went into a ‘negative balance,’ I was told I needed to ‘invest’ by sending money through ETH to continue the job and recover my funds. I did this 6 or 7 times.

On Wednesday, September 18, during my first task, my account went into a negative balance of $6,000, which I finished paying by Friday. When I resumed working to complete Wednesday’s task, the system allegedly ‘upgraded’ my task, putting my account into another negative balance and asking for $12,500. The ‘coach’ and ‘customer service’ told me I could have declined the upgrade. I sent another $3,950 but informed them I had no more money. At this point, I started to suspect it was a scam. They continued pressuring me to finish and send the remaining funds to complete the task. I haven’t sent any more money and have lost around $14,000.

    The Bottom Line Regarding Rwxoftsa.com

After thoroughly examining the evidence, it is clear that rwxoftsa.com is highly likely to be a scam. The site exhibits numerous warning signs, including a newly registered domain, deceptive use of a well-known brand, pressure tactics to extract money through cryptocurrency transactions, and reports from users who have experienced financial losses.

These factors, combined with the lack of transparency and legitimate business practices, strongly indicate that this site should be avoided. Engaging with rwxoftsa.com poses significant risks, and we urge anyone considering interaction with this platform to exercise extreme caution.
